Rob also competed alongside Amber on The Amazing Race, and is often referenced as one of the historical touchstones of Survivor strategy, as evidenced by Phillip's deployment of "the Boston Rob rules" on Survivor: Caramoan.

In 1999, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.

Rob currently works as a construction foreman and part-time bartender, while also serving as head coach for Boston University's Inline Hockey Team (which he has done since its inception in 1999).

I'm hoping that this time I can make something go right." Mariano was initially lambasted for not doing much at Maraamu camp despite his physique but he made a strong alliance with Sarah Jones, Vecepia Towery, and Sean Rector.

He and Amber eventually made it to the Final Two together, where his vicious gameplay caused him to lose in a close 4-3 jury vote.

In Heroes vs Villains, he formed a rivalry with Russell Hantz early on, after finding out Russell was looking for a Hidden Immunity Idol; he formed the Majority Alliance and planned to flush out Russell's Idol, but after his right hand man Tyson Apostol deviated from the plan and was blindsided, Rob's game came to an end at the next Tribal Council.

Robert Mariano was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts.

An avid sportsman, he attended Xaverian Brothers High School where he played on the varsity hockey team and helped his golf team win the state championship in 1991-92.

Regarded as one of the smartest and most devious contestants in Survivor history, Rob is renowned for his charismatic leadership, challenge prowess, and cutthroat strategy.
